　�、� take every chance 利用機(jī)會(huì)；碰運(yùn)氣 (=take a

　　  chance, take chances)

　　② by chance = by accident 偶然地；無(wú)意中

　�、� by any chance 萬(wàn)一

　　[例句]Don't take chances by driving too fast. 不要開(kāi)快

　　車(chē)來(lái)冒險(xiǎn)。

　　I'll take my chance of being captured by the enemy. 我

　　要冒著被敵人抓到的危險(xiǎn)碰碰運(yùn)氣。

　　【考例2】That's a chance I'll have to ____.

　　    A. make    B. take

　　    C. try    D. play

　　[考查目標(biāo)] 此題主要考查固定短語(yǔ)的搭配問(wèn)題。

　　[答案與解析]B  在take a chance 短語(yǔ)中，不可用其他

　　動(dòng)詞。

　　13. in case of (in case) 以防，假使

　　  In case of her being out, you may leave a massage.

　　  假如她不在家你可留張便條。

　　  What shall we do in case he is absent at the meeting?

　　  萬(wàn)一他不來(lái)開(kāi)會(huì)我們?cè)趺崔k?

　　  Take your raincoat, just in case.

　　  帶上雨衣以防下雨。

　　  [注意](1) in case of接名詞或相當(dāng)于名詞的成分；in

　　  case引導(dǎo)句子或單獨(dú)使用，上面句子中just in case

　　  相當(dāng)于just in case of rain。類似用法還有in this /

　　  that case (要是這樣 / 那樣的話)，如：

　　  In that case，we will not go with you.

　　  要是情況是那樣的話，我們就不和你一起去了。

　　  (2) in 與 ease 搭配也常表示“在……情況下”主要有

　　  以下詞組：

　　  in any case( 在任何情況下)

　　  in all cases (在所有情況下)

　　  in a particular case (在特殊情況下)

　　  in some case (在某種情況下)

　　  in no case( 在任何情況下都不，決不)

　　  如：In no case, can I lend money to him.

　　  在任何情況下我都不會(huì)借錢(qián)給他。

　　12. in honor of (in sb's honor) 為了……紀(jì)念／慶祝，對(duì)

　　  ……表示敬意／歡迎

　　  A banquet was given in honor of the visiting president.

　　  舉行宴會(huì)歡迎來(lái)訪的總統(tǒng)。

　　  A birthday party is being planned in our teacher's

　　  honor.

　　  正在為我們的老師籌劃一個(gè)生日聚會(huì)。

　　  試比較：for the honor of... (為了……榮譽(yù))

　　  He will try his best for the honor of his school.

　　  他會(huì)為學(xué)校的榮譽(yù)而努力。

　　  類似用法 in memory of (為了……紀(jì)念)，如：

　　  The statue was built in memory of Mr. LuXun.

　　  這個(gè)雕塑是為紀(jì)念魯迅先生而建的。

　　14. make sure: to establish something without doubt;

　　    make certain 弄清楚；確保

　　    Make sure he writes it down.

　　    讓他一定記下來(lái)。

　　    sure adj. (常與of，that連用) 確信的；肯定的

　　    Please make sure that the house is locked before you

　　    leave.

　　    請(qǐng)你確信是鎖上房間后才離開(kāi)的。

　　  I'm not sure about the practicality of their plan.

　　  我還無(wú)法確定他們的那個(gè)計(jì)劃的可行性如何。
