Dear Jack,
I’m glad to learn from your email that you long for the knowledge about the Dragon Boat Festival, one of the Chinese conventional festivals.
As we know, the Dragon Boat festival falls on May 5th on the lunar calendar. So vital is the festival to people that almost everyone celebrates it in China.
Firstly, I want to tell you something about the origin of the festival. There are two main characters in the story. One is Qu Yuan and the other is Wu Zixu. Qu Yuan was not merely an extraordinary poet, but also a politician with patriotic spirit. The enemy seized the capital city of Chu Dynasty 278 B. C. And it was a contributor to Qu Yuan’s jumping into Miluo River to end his life. Afterwards, people set up the festival in order to shelter Qu Yuan’s body from being eaten by fish in the river. Another people who is worth mentioning is Wu Zixu, a renowned general. Secondly, people are accustomed to eating specific food, such as rice dumplings, salty eggs and realgar wine.
I hope that my email can be of some help to you. Moreover, I’m looking forward to your reply.

Dear Tom,
I'm delighted to know you have a burning passion for traditional Chinese festivals. My favorite festival is the Chongyang Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.
Since nine is the largest single number, it is viewed as Senior Citizens' Day. People often do activities like going hiking and admiring flowers on this day.
As for me, I had never thought about doing anything for the elderly until I learned about the festival at school. Our teacher asked us to do a considerate thing for our grandparents. For the first time in my life, I washed my grandma’s feet. I'll never forget the sweet smile she wore and the happiness I felt.
I sincerely invite you to experience this festival in person. Looking forward to your coming.
Yours,

Dear students,
As globalization continues to progress, cultural exchange between different countries becomes more frequent and in-depth. Indeed, this process deepens communication between nations, but it also poses a threat to the existence of some countries’ traditional festivals. China, a country with a profound history and a large variety of festivals, is no exception.
The importance of traditional festivals cannot be overemphasized. Firstly, traditional festivals deepen our understanding of the profound Chinese history for they act as carriers of our culture and ideology. Secondly, not only do they inform us of core Chinese values and philosophies, but also serve as the fountain of our ethnic pride and confidence, which goes a long way to shaping our national identity and strengthening our social cohesion.
So, how can we carry forward our traditional festivals? Firstly, whenever the important festival is approaching, we young people need to make preparation for as well as become fully engaged in its rituals, customs and ceremonies. Also, we can upload photos, short videos and emojis related to our festivals on popular social media such as Tiktok and Vlog so that people’s awareness of carrying forward traditional festivals can be fully aroused.
All in all, traditional festivals should be passed down from one generation to another and for the benefit of our future generations, we young people have the inescapable responsibility to protect and carry forward them.
